Venus Williams in car crash that killed man, 78

Venus Williams has been accused of causing a car crash in Miami which led to the death of a 78-year-old man.

The tennis player was at the wheel of her Toyota SUV at a crossroads in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, when the accident took place on June 9.

Linda Barson told police that the former world No 1’s vehicle crossed into her path and she did not have time to stop, crashing into Williams’s car.

According to gossip website TMZ, Mrs Barson suffered broken bones. Her husband Jerome died later in hospital. Police are still investigating.
