Hats off to Kirstie for dieting the proper way

-

How splendid to see Kirstie Allsopp, 45, back in shape again and looking so well on it. Losing weight becomes unbelievably difficult after the age of 40, so to have gone from a 16 to a borderline 12 is a real achievement.

With characteristic forthrightness, the Location, Location, Location presenter says that her determination to slim down was sparked by the medical statistic that carrying extra weight aged 50 is the number one risk factor for breast cancer, a disease that her mother first developed at 41 and which led to her death in 2014, aged 66.

It’s a lesson all women should learn and, best of all, she didn’t resort to a crackpot diet of cayenne pepper and maple syrup – she simply cut carbs, axed wine and ate three meals a day.

No snacks. No goji berries. No amaranth grains. Just good food with a side order of restraint.

I’ll raise a glass (of water) to that.
