Support for life

-

SIR – Contrary to what Bryony Gordon implies (“Are we getting closer to a real-life Handmaid’s Tale nightmare?”, July 1), it is possible to be a man who both respects women and deplores all violence – including the American obsession with guns.

I am pro-life, throughout life. I support an organisation, LIFE, which helps women and girls with crisis pregnancies: not by enabling them to terminate their unborn babies, but by giving them practical help to keep and raise their children. John de Waal

SIR – I can assure Tom Morrell (Letters, July 1) that when a mother wants an abortion and is denied it, the innocent human foetus does not go on to live a “full and happy life”.

On the contrary, the unfortunate child grows up well aware that he or she is unwanted, unloved, and a complete waste of space. This leads to a very limited and very unhappy life. I speak from bitter personal experience. Margaret Crowther
