The Summer of I Feel Love RADIO 2, 10.00PM
It’s 40 years since the release of Donna Summer’s timeless disco dance track, I
Feel Love. Many a party in the decades since has featured someone singing along in a mock-falsetto to what is now generally thought of as the greatest disco tune of all time, and which immeasurably influenced the progression of electronic and dance music in the years afterwards. Paul Sexton celebrates I Feel Love’s impact, and speaks to the musicians whose work was inspired by it, from The Human League to Faithless.
Front Row RADIO 4, 7.15PM
Marking the 50th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality, Front Row launches a series celebrating queer art and culture from across history, from the poetry of Sappho to the Oscar-winning
Moonlight. Each film, book, painting, play or song is championed by a wellknown figure, such as Will Young, Stephen Fry, Mary Portas, and Alan Hollinghurst, discussing its particular significance. Snippets will be popping up in various places across Radio 4 throughout the month, so keep an ear out.
