Two feared trapped in fire at paintball centre

Firefighters were tackling a large blaze at a paintball centre last night as it was feared two people were trapped inside.

Crews were called at about 5pm to the Desert Storm paintball site in St Helens, Merseyside, where they found the building alight.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said it had reports of two people entering the building who had not come out. As six crews tackled the fire, part of the roof collapsed and burning tyres released a large plume of smoke into the sky.

The fire service said the nearby Pilkington’s glass factory had been evacuated but had not been affected by the blaze.
