Fit for a king
Finishing touches are made to the ‘Gnome King’, an eight-and-a-half metre interactive sculpture by Finnish artist Kalle Munstonen, whose work often plays with the idea of kitsch, bestowing mythic status on everyday objects. The sculpture is described as “both based on a story from Finnish folklore and reminiscent of a certain variety of garden ornament.” Visitors to the Southbank Centre’s Nordic Art Installations exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall will be able to climb inside.
The exhibition runs from tomorrow until Aug 30.
