Banks must prove lending is not risky

-

Banks have been ordered to prove that the boom in credit card lending is not excessively risky. Lenders have been given two months to examine underwriting standards and explain themselves to the Bank of England, and the Prudential Regulation Authority will then decide if further steps are needed to rein in risky lending. If banks try to grow their personal loans too quickly they will take bigger risks, regulators fear.
