Girl, 11, died trying to return to boat in theme park tragedy

A GIRL who fell into the water at a theme park was trying to walk back to the six-seat boat when she was sucked under by rapids, MPS have heard.

Evha Jannath, 11, died on a school trip in May in the Splash Canyon attraction at Drayton Manor theme park in Tamworth, Staffs, despite friends calling for help. Ahead of an investigation and responding to questions from Keith Vaz, the family’s MP, Penny Mordaunt, the Work and Pensions minister, said “appropriate action” would be taken if the inquiry exposed any breach of the law. Mr Vaz said Evha’s family remains “shocked and in mourning”.
