Imam denies trying to recruit jihadists abroad
A Uk-based imam wanted by Spanish authorities over claims he was part of a group trying to recruit jihadists to fight in Syria says he is innocent.
Tarik Chadlioui, 43, was one of six people arrested across Europe on June 28 at the request of investigators in Majorca. He is accused of recording videos encouraging people to go to fight for Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant during two visits to the Balearic island in 2014 and 2015, an extradition hearing at Westminster magistrates’ court was told yesterday.
The Belgian national, a father of eight, has been living in Britain for two years. He denies the charges.
