Blair ‘not straight with Britain on Iraq War decision’

-

TONY BLAIR was not “straight with the nation” and based his decision to go to war in Iraq on his beliefs rather than facts, Sir John Chilcot has said.

The chairman of the inquiry into the 2003 invasion of Iraq said Mr Blair had been “emotionally truthful” in his account of events leading up to the war.

But Sir John told the BBC that Mr Blair made the case for invasion “pinning it on my belief, not on the fact, what the assessed intelligence said”.
