Silence would be ace
SIR – Wouldn’t it be wonderful not to have television commentators at Wimbledon? Most of them don’t know when to stop talking, and it would save the BBC a lot of money.
How I miss Dan Maskell.

SIR – Monday’s match between Aljaž Bedene and Ivo Karlović was brilliant, but demonstrated the ridiculous advantage held by the server: in 65 of the 66 games, the player who served went on to win the game.
So why on earth is the server allowed two goes at it? He has everything under his control but, uniquely in tennis, he is given a second chance if he misses.
Why not eliminate the second serve and let the contest be about the skills and tactics of the rally?
