70 dead hawksbill turtles found

Police in the Philippines have seized 70 dead hawksbill turtles – a critically endangered species illegally trafficked for its prized shell.

Hawksbills face a high risk of extinction as their shell is used to make jewellery and hair ornaments. Two men were arrested while transporting the turtles by boat off the coast of Dumaran town on Palawan island.
