Look up – could that be Rex, the missing eagle?

-

An eagle was on the loose in the south east last night, after it went missing as it took part in a flying display.

Rex, a Steller’s sea eagle, had been performing before a crowd of spectators at Eagle Heights Wildlife Foundation in Eynsford, near Dartford.

The eagle is so big it is theoretically able to pick up a small dog from the ground. It is fitted with a GPS tag and the centre’s bird handlers were able to track it initially, but said the satellite system is “experiencing a lot of interference”.

Sightings have been reported in Knockholt in Kent as well as Harlow in Essex.
