3.4m air miles, but Ramsay never eats the in-flight meals

-

GORDON RAMSAY has warned against eating aeroplane food, as he revealed he has clocked up 3.4million air miles.

The 50-year-old chef, whose restaurants have been awarded a total of 16 Michelin stars and is known for his TV shows The F Word and Hell’s Kitchen, said that “for health and safety reasons” all food on planes is “overcooked”.

He told The Times magazine: “The biggest complaint I get from members of staff on BA is they say to me, ‘Oh, you’re not eating.’ And I say, ‘No!’

“I’m not that stupid. Everything is braised, everything is overcooked. It’s for health and safety reasons – it’s not their fault, but everything has to have the s--- cooked out of it.”

Ramsay, who spent 10 years advising Singapore Airlines on their on-board menu, has notched up enough air miles to go around the world’s equator – 24,901 miles-a-time – more than 136 times without paying a penny.
