-

Anton Nossik, an entrepreneur and blogger known as the “godfather of the Russian internet” died yesterday.

The Russian-israeli citizen, a prominent critic of Kremlin efforts to curtail web freedom, died of a heart attack at the age of 51.

In 2016, Nossik was convicted by a Moscow court of making public calls for extremism over a 2015 post on his blog in which he said Syria should be “wiped off the face of the Earth” because it threatens Israel.
