Missing Wimbledon

-

SIR – Every year my enjoyment of Wimbledon is spoilt by the BBC’S policy of endlessly swapping matches to different channels mid-match.

This is not a problem for anyone who is able to watch it live, but it is incredibly annoying for those of us who are recording it. Clare Byam-cook

London SW15

SIR – How about first-round Wimbledon losers get £300 for each point scored, up to a maximum of £30,000?

This might make those who know they are unfit think twice about going on court just to get the money for appearing (report, July 6). Not much reward if you play a set and drop out, making your injury worse in the process. David Beach

Minehead, Somerset

SIR – True tennis fans don’t care about the niggles described in recent letters. Every year it’s a real thrill to be able to watch and hear the greatest tennis championship in the world. I often record and skip through the “fill-ins”, but overall it’s the best thing on television.

Anyone annoyed by commentators or players’ habits can simply switch off. Wimbledon rules. Denise Hilton

Guildford, Surrey
