RBS to pay £4.2bn for mis-selling US bonds
Royal Bank of Scotland is to pay £4.2 billion to settle claims that it mis-sold toxic mortgage-backed bonds to the US loan providers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac before the financial crisis. Ross Mcewan, the RBS chief executive, said it was “a stark reminder” of the bank’s past.
