Mum jailed for faking her own death in crash

-

A mother who faked her own death in Africa with her son to try to cash in on life insurance has been jailed.

Arafa Nassib, 48, and Adil Kasim, 18, of Walsall, West Midlands, forged a death certificate claiming Nassib was killed in a car crash in Zanzibar.

The pair made fraudulent £140,000 claims with Scottish Widows but investigators grew suspicious when no grave could be found and they were told she was living in Canada.

The pair, of Walsall, West Midlands, admitted conspiracy to commit fraud. Nassib was jailed for two and a half years. Her son was given a 12-month community order.
