Double value tennis

SIR – Would it not be a good idea for Wimbledon to give the doubles players greater prize money to reflect the skill that they bring to the game?

This would encourage more players to join in. The matches would be even more attractive to audiences, and more matches would perhaps be played on the show courts. Other grand slams might then follow suit and the doubles game would be given its true value as a sport – witness the pairing of Jamie Murray and Martina Hingis.

Perhaps some of the prize money currently given to the ladies could be awarded where it is most earned. Pauline Dalgleish
