It’s a bit too warm for ‘winter is coming’

-

The eagerly awaited seventh season of Game of Thrones begins next week, and fans are working themselves into a frenzy. Who will make it to the eighth – and final – series of the show? What grizzly fates await those who don’t?

And why on earth have they decided to air the gruesome programme in July?

Game of Thrones usually hits screens in April, a suitably cold time to be watching the White Walkers advance through the ice to the frozen Wall that keeps them away from Westeros and all the warring houses within it. But the height of summer? Not so much.

Winter may well be coming, but while the sun has its 10 minutes in the, erm, sun, I’d really rather not be reminded of it.
