Romola Garai, above, backed Stella Mccartney in the row over the Beckhams’ birthday party pictures

-

Harper Beckham celebrated her sixth birthday this week in the celebrity way – with a flurry of social media posts from her family, giving thanks for her presence in their lives. Harper also got a party at Buckingham Palace, thanks to mum and dad’s friendship with Princess Beatrice and Sarah, Duchess of York. The public were outraged by David Beckham’s Instagram pictures of the event – this is a royal palace, not a theme park! – but not half as outraged as Stella Mccartney, whose child went to the party and featured in one of the pictures.

She is said to be “furious” that the Beckhams made photos of her daughter public.

Actress Romola Garai waded into the row, saying: “It should be illegal to post pictures of your children without their permission.”

I suppose this is something to consider if, like the Beckhams, you have a squillion followers. But us normal humans usually post to about 35 people. And that’s if we’re really lucky.
