Youth critical as police car and moped collide

A 16-year-old youth is in a critical condition after a collision between a marked police car and a moped carrying three male teenagers.

Another 16-year-old hurt his leg and a 15-year-old had minor injuries after the crash early yesterday morning in Wimbledon, south-west London.

Scotland Yard said the moped, which was reported as missing last week, was being tracked by a police helicopter and was believed to have been involved in an earlier robbery attempt.

All three teenagers were arrested at the scene.
