SIR – I can no longer buy a simple nitrogen fertiliser for my garden without a licence, no doubt because it can be used as a base chemical in a relatively complex bomb-making process.

I can, however, buy concentrat­ed sulphuric acid and commit terrorist acts without any modificati­on of the product whatsoever. Where is the logic in this? Adrian Waller
