Wheelchair scrapes

SIR – In our area, cars regularly park so that they partially cover the pavement. This leaves a narrow gap for me to negotiate with my wife in a wheelchair. To use the road instead is difficult and often dangerous.

My concern is: what is the legal situation if I accidentally damage a car while manoeuvring the wheelchair through the gap? Barrie Saunders
