Teenager charged with acid at­tacks on six moped rid­ers

AN ACID at­tack vic­tim could lose sight in one eye, a court heard yes­ter­day, as a 16-year-old boy charged in con­nec­tion with a spate of at­tacks in Lon­don last Thurs­day de­nied at­tack­ing six moped rid­ers with a nox­ious liq­uid.

Ap­pear­ing at Strat­ford Youth Court, the teenager, who can­not be named for le­gal rea­sons, rose only to con­firm his name, age and ad­dress, be­fore plead­ing not guilty to 13 charges.

He is charged with GBH with in­tent, pos­ses­sion of a weapon de­signed to dis­charge a nox­ious liq­uid, two counts of rob­bery, four counts of at­tempted rob­bery and five counts of at­tempted GBH with in­tent. He is ac­cused of tar­get­ing six male moped rid­ers across East Lon­don within a 72-minute win­dow on Thurs­day evening.

The youth, from Croy­don, south Lon­don, who was re­manded in cus­tody, was ar­rested on Satur­day.

He will face trail at Wood Green Crown Court, Lon­don, on Aug 14.
