China technology deals ‘put data at risk’
♦the personal data of Britons could be trawled by Beijing’s spies as the UK sells off sensitive, hi-tech industry to Chinese investment, a security think tank has warned.
Chinese investors have sunk more than £29billion into the UK since 2005, and a report released today by the Henry Jackson Society, says that “Chinese ownership, control or access of a part of the UK’S digital infrastructure would make access undetectable and unpreventable”.
Fears over security risks were highlighted last year when Theresa May ordered a review.
