BUCKINGHAM PALACE July 18th

The Queen today received the Bishop of Sheffield (the Right Reverend Dr Peter Wilcox) who did homage upon his appointmen­t.

Her Majesty received the Bishop of Sodor and Man (the Right Reverend Peter Eagles) who did homage upon his appointmen­t.

The Rt Hon David Lidington, MP (Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice), administer­ed the Oath.

The Bishop of Carlisle (Clerk of the Closet) was in attendance.

The Queen, Duke of Lancaster received Sir Mark Hudson (Chairman of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster) and Mr Nathan Thompson (Chief Executive).

The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointmen­t as Her Majesty’s Ambassador­s: Mrs Sally Axworthy (the Holy See), Mr Ross Denny (the Republic of Costa Rica), Mr Moazzam Malik (the Republic of Indonesia) and Mr Richard Morris (the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal).

Dr Michael Axworthy, Mrs Denny, Mrs Malik and Mrs Morris were also received by Her Majesty.

His Excellency Mr David Johnston was received in audience by The Queen this afternoon upon relinquish­ing his appointmen­t as Governor-general of Canada.

Mrs Johnston was also received by Her Majesty.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Royal Mersey Yacht Club, this morning received Mr Michael Blaylock upon relinquish­ing his appointmen­t as Commodore and Mr John Collingwoo­d upon assuming the appointmen­t.

His Royal Highness, formerly Chancellor, University of Salford, received a delegation on the occasion of the University’s Fiftieth Anniversar­y.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Royal Institute of Navigation, this afternoon presented Awards at the Annual Meeting, the Royal Geographic­al Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7.

By command of The Queen, Mr Julian Evans (Vice-marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Claus Grube at 55 Sloane Street, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquish­ing his appointmen­t as Ambassador from the Kingdom of Denmark to the Court of St James’s.

By command of Her Majesty, the Vice-marshal of the Diplomatic Corps called upon His Excellency Mr Patrick Engelberg at 27 Wilton Crescent, London SW1, in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquish­ing his appointmen­t as Ambassador from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Court of St James’s.

KENSINGTON PALACE July 18th

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today carried out the following engagement­s in Gdansk, Poland.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon visited Stutthof Concentrat­ion Camp.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge afterwards visited a market in the Town Square and were received by Mr Pawel Adamowicz (Mayor of Gdansk).

Their Royal Highnesses later attended a Reception at Gdansk Shakespear­e Theatre.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge subsequent­ly visited the European Solidarity Centre at Plac Solidarnos­ci and afterwards laid flowers at the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers.

Prince Henry of Wales, Patron, this evening attended the 5-Eyes Veterans Conference at No 10 Downing Street.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE July 18th

The Duke of York, Patron, Badminton England, this afternoon received Mr Derek Batchelor (Chairman), Mr Adrian Christy (Chief Executive) and Ms Diana Troke (Director).

His Royal Highness received His Excellency Mr Erlan Idrissov (Ambassador from the Republic of Kazakhstan).

The Duke of York this evening held a Dinner for supporters of End Malaria.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE July 18th

The Princess Royal this morning visited Excalibur Communicat­ions GB Limited on the occasion of their Twentieth Anniversar­y, Arclite House, Century Road, Swindon, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mrs Peter Troughton).

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, this afternoon attended a Board Meeting at the Grange, Wycombe Road, Saunderton, Princes Risborough, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Buckingham­shire (Sir Henry Aubrey-fletcher, Bt).

The Princess Royal, Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Engineers, this evening attended an Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the Royal College of Physicians, 11 St Andrews Place, London NW1, and was received by Wing Commander Michael Dudgeon (Vice Lord-lieutenant of Greater London).

The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, today received Brigadier John Hemsley (formerly Chairman of the St John Fellowship).

The Duke of Kent, Patron, the Royal Institutio­n of Australia, this afternoon received Mr Peter Yates (Chairman) at Boodles, 27 St James’s Street, London SW1.
