Acid test

-

SIR – There have been calls to make it harder to purchase sulphuric acid (Letters, July 18), following a spate of attacks.

When I was a boy 70 years ago, my father used to buy sulphuric acid from a pharmacy to destroy wasps’ nests. He always had to sign the poisons register.

What happened to this excellent and simple system? Paul Machin
