Rock and a hard place

-

A couple had a close call after being plucked from a low promontory below a cliff as huge Atlantic breakers threatened to sweep them away. The drama unfolded on a rock ledge between Porth and Watergate Bay in Cornwall yesterday, where the pair could be seen clinging to each other as powerful waves swept towards them on an incoming tide which had cut them off. Luckily an alarm was raised and a helicopter from Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team was able to winch them to safety.
