The pen is mightier

-

SIR – Michael Deacon (Sketch, July 20) describes how Jeremy Corbyn appeared to be using the tussle with replacing his pen in his jacket pocket as a means of avoiding having to respond to a serious matter in the Commons.

However, I have some sympathy with Mr Corbyn. Over many years, I have fallen foul on numerous occasions of the hazard of replacing pens in pockets. It is an operation fraught with danger, often resulting in torn clothing and, worst of all, leakage of ink. Mr Corbyn, as a sensible chap, was obviously giving the task the priority that it deserved.
