Just three applications for each nursing job

The average NHS nursing and midwifery vacancy is only drawing three applications, figures show.

NHS Digital say there were 30,613 openings for full-time positions on NHS Jobs, the main NHS recruitment website, in England in March 2017. Of these, 38 per cent were for registered nurses or midwives.

Between Oct 1 2016 and Dec 31 2016, 81,674 vacancies were advertised with an average of 10 applications per role.

During this period, 31,197 nursing or midwifery jobs were advertised with an average of three applications per role. In 2015, 28,713 nursing or midwifery positions were advertised, with four applications for each role.
