Man jailed for killing boy, 5, over dropped shoe

A man who beat a five-year-old boy to death for dropping his shoe in a park saw “the red mist come down”, a judge said as he jailed him for 18 years.

Marvyn Iheanacho, 39, attacked Alex Malcolm, his girlfriend’s son, in a park in Catford, south-east London, last November, Woolwich Crown Court heard. Alex, five, suffered head and stomach injuries and died in hospital. Jailing him for murder, Judge Mark Dennis said Iheanacho had a “wholly and unnecessary loss of temper”.
