A course of antibiotics

SIR – It is simplistic at best for health experts to stop advocating that patients should complete the full course of antibiotics (report, July 27).

Recently I was put on a course of antibiotics and when I began to feel better I stopped taking them. Very soon thereafter the problem came back in a more virulent form, necessitating another full course.

Such decisions should be left to the doctors who know their patients.
