Wombling Free (1978)

Though it doesn’t rival the warmth, simplicity, charm, and eye for period detail that distinguished Lionel Jeffries’ The Railway Children, his film adaptation of the children’s television series is a charming little piece. Frances de la Tour as Julia Frogmorton, Roland’s sister, has the best lines in a story which features the litter-picking creatures in a close encounter with humans. Listen out for Bonnie Langford, too.
