Taxing issue Over-80s are still having to fill in returns

Almost 300,000 pensioners over the age of 80 are being required to file a tax return, even though in many cases they have little tax to pay, new figures show. Data released by HMRC under the Freedom of Information Act reveal there are now 1.7 million pensioners, including 275,000 over80s, required to submit returns.
