Brexit was most important to voting public

Brexit was the most important issue in the election as far as voters were concerned.

More than one in three people said Brexit or the EU was the most important issue, compared with fewer than one in 10 who said the NHS and one in 20 who said the economy.

More than half of those who voted for Ukip in 2015 switched to the Tories, compared with 18 per cent to Labour and 18 per cent who stayed loyal to the party.
