Natalie Haynes Stands Up for the Classics
RADIO 4, 11.30AM
It turn out that the classics and comedy make good bedfellows. In a welcome return for the show that’s always a nice change from the well-worn paths of topical BBC comedy (seriously, how many more jokes about Donald Trump and Brexit can there be?), comedian and classics enthusiast Natalie Haynes gives an impassioned defence of the mysterious ancient poet Sappho. She is joined by novelist Stella Duffy, classicist professor Edith Hall and accompanied by music from Little Machine.
