Bursar criticises ‘excessive’ pay

The bursar of Oxford University’s New College has called for an end to the “gravy train”, as he attacked his own institution on the pay of its vice-chancellor.

David Palfreyman called salaries of Oxford’s senior management team “grossly excessive” and criticised the “cadre of costly helpers” that assists Louise Richardson, the vice-chancellor, who earns £350,000 a year.
