Oxford bursar on the run after murder in US
POLICE last night said the net was closing in on an “armed and dangerous” Oxford University employee on the run in the US over the murder of a hair stylist.
A nationwide manhunt has been launched for Andrew Warren, 56, and Wyndham Lathem, 42, after Trenton Cornell-duranleau, 26, was found stabbed to death in Lathem’s upmarket Chicago apartment. He was found face down with stab wounds to his back, police sources told the Chicago Tribune.
Mr Warren, whose friends in Britain last night urged him to hand himself in, went missing from his home in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, on June 24 and travelled to the US without telling his family or his boyfriend.
On July 27 it is alleged that the senior treasury assistant at Oxford’s Somerville College and Latham, an associate professor at Northwestern University in Chicago, stabbed Cornell-duranleau “multiple times “.
An Oxford University spokesman said yesterday that the institution has been in contact with officers in the UK and is prepared to assist the US investigation. “Whatever the circumstances, we would urge him to contact the US authorities as soon as possible.”
