Backpacker freed by al-qaeda after six years

A British-south African man has been freed after being held by al-qaeda militants in northern Mali for six years.

Stephen Mcgown was kidnapped while travelling in Timbuktu in 2011. He has been undergoing medical check-ups this week, but is said to be in good health.
