The fans’ annual fight against football funk
SIR – Jeremy Parr (Letters, August 1) wonders if he is alone in being depressed at the imminent start of the football season.
As a long-suffering Notts County supporter, I am looking forward to kick-off with great enthusiasm. Then again, I do that every year in August – it is an annual triumph of hope over experience.
By the time we get to November, there has usually been little to cheer about and the manager starts telling us it will take time for the team to “gel”. This is when my depression sets in.
