Friday Night Is Music Night RADIO 2, 8.00PM

What do Darth Vader, Ross Poldark, Robin Hood, Batman, Spartacus, Don Giovanni and Captain Jack Sparrow have in common? Well, it can sometimes be hard to tell whether they’re heroes, villains, or a bit of both. Presented by Ken Bruce, this week’s Friday Night Is Music Night celebrates goodies and baddies and how they can make or break a story, with the musical themes that are indelibly linked to them in our brains. Richard Balcombe conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra and guest artists.

Gay Britannia RADIO 4 EXTRA, 11.00AM

In a nod to the BBC’S Gay Britannia season marking 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of sexual relationships between men, Radio 4 Extra gives us another chance to hear one of the most memorable stories in the history of The Archers, the 2006 civil partnership between Adam Macy and Ian Craig. Family tensions were running even higher than is usual at soap weddings, as Ambridge waited on tenterhooks to discover if Adam’s stepfather, Brian Aldridge, would deign to attend the big day.
