Day 10 SUNDAY AUG 13
Brits to watch
Tom Bosworth has dragged British race walking out of the doldrums and finished sixth at the Rio Olympics. He is only getting quicker and might make it on to the podium in Sunday’s 20km race walk. Laura Muir’s main focus was the 1500m, but she should go again in the 5,000m final, where she is likely to find the east African contingent too strong. Robbie Grabarz has hopes of winning a high-jump medal in the stadium where he won London 2012 bronze. Lynsey Sharp should make the 800m final, while both British 4x400m quartets need to spring a shock to make the podium.
Foreign star
Caster Semenya (below). The South African has already won two Olympic and two world 800m titles and looks a sure-fire bet to complete her hat-trick in London. She is unbeaten over the distance all year and heads into the World Championships off the back of a personal best performance at the Monaco Diamond League.
Don’t-miss event
Women’s 5,000m. Last year’s Rio Olympics saw a titanic battle between Kenyan team-mates as Vivian Cheruiyot came out on top against Hellen Obiri. The gold medallist has since moved to the roads and it is Obiri who goes in as favourite against Ethiopian duo Genzebe Dibaba and Almaz Ayana. Laura Muir is the British hope.
