TV producer jailed for murder plot to appeal

A retired producer on The Bill, jailed for hiring three would-be hitmen to kill his wealthy wife so he could be with his 28-year-old lover, is to appeal against his conviction.

David Harris, 68, of Amberley, West Sussex, was found guilty of three charges of soliciting murder in May at the Old Bailey last month. His claim that he contacted the hitmen as research for a thriller was rejected by the jury. Judge Anne Molyneux QC jailed him for 17 years.
