Pensioner stabbed to death walking dogs

-

 A murder inquiry is under way after an elderly man was stabbed to death walking his two dogs in woodland.

The 83-year-old victim died after being repeatedly stabbed in his head and neck in what police describe as a “brutal” attack.

The married father of two, who has not yet been named, was found dead by another walker at 10.45am on Saturday in the woods bordering heathland near East Harling, Norfolk.

It is thought he was attacked shortly after leaving his home at around 9am that morning. Detectives said last night that the motive remains unclear. Following a post mortem, police announced a murder inquiry.

Mike Fawcett, Norfolk’s County Policing Commander Chief Superintendent said: “Those who use the woodlands and footpath regularly especially those who were there between 9am and 11am on Saturday August 5 are urged to contact us.

“We have a mobile police station at the scene and a dedicated phone line should you have information.”
