Little buys that deliver a big impact

Ithese are costume jewellery after all – but a tenner at Mango suddenly seems like great value for an item that can totally transform your look.

So where and how to wear them? Statement earrings don’t require much thought; while they’d normally be paired with a silk cami or strapless dress by night (and look great like this), the true transformative power is seen by day. I usually reach for them when I’m wearing jeans and have my hair up; they’re my go‑to for a high‑ low balance. Plus, I have a pair at my desk should I make last‑minute dinner plans and need to suddenly smarten up. tarnish over time. Try not to get them wet to improve their lifespan, and store them separately rather than all together.

On the plus side, inexpensive materials mean they’re likely to be more on the lightweight side so they won’t weigh down your earlobes.

Anything even slightly heavy should be in clip‑on form to combat the weight.
