Engineer fired by Google over gender pay gap
GOOGLE has fired a computer engineer who said that the gender pay gap among technology workers was down to biological differences between men and women.
James Damore, who had worked at Google for four years, last week distributed a manifesto that said the gap in jobs and pay was partly due to biological causes such as “men’s higher drive for status” and women being “more prone to anxiety”.
Yesterday, Mr Damore said he had been dismissed by Google for “perpetuating gender stereotypes” and was considering legal action.
