Immigration pressures
SIR – It is commendable that Ruth Davidson, the Scottish Conservative Party leader, should call for a meaningful and sustained discussion on the issue of immigration to Britain (Comment, August 8).
However, it is disappointing that she should devote just a few words to the crucial matter of how uncontrolled immigration and an ever-increasing population place intolerable strains on the delivery of public services, including healthcare, education and housing.
These are subjects that should be at the heart of any discussion concerning immigration. Malcolm H Wheeler
