Sainsbury’s hikes pay amid job cuts

Sainsbury’s has increased the hourly pay for its store staff in the UK by 4.4pc, despite news, revealed in The Sunday Telegraph, that it is planning to axe more than 1,000 head office jobs in a cost-cutting drive. It marks the third consecutive year Sainsbury’s has lifted store pay. The rise will come into effect at the end of this month.
