Crucial role in sick abuse White teenage girl who helped Asian groomers

A white teenage girl was used to select victims for the Asian grooming gang who then drugged and raped them, it can be revealed.

Carolann Gallon, left, was 17 when she began working for the Newcastle-based gang, gaining the trust of young girls across the city, before handing them over to the abusers.

Despite being just a teenager herself, police were convinced she was a key player in the network and had a crucial role in facilitating the abuse.

After deciding to treat her as an offender, rather than a victim, she was charged with three counts of trafficking girls for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

But the decision to charge her went all the way up to Alison Saunders, the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gallon, of Newburn, who is now 20, admitted the offences at a previous hearing and is due to be sentenced alongside other members of the gang next month.
